Over 300 cubic meters of Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) was used in the construction of all balconies and roof slabs of the Bayside Grand Apartments on Phillip Island, Victoria.
KIM is a cementitious admixture added to the concrete to provide permanent waterproofing, and replaces the need for any external waterproofing, such as membranes. KIM uses Kryton’s proprietary crystalline technology to react with water and unhydrated concrete, causing millions of needle-like crystals to form, blocking the penetration of water and corrosive elements. Over time, incoming water causes additional crystals to form, self-sealing small cracks and saving repair and maintenance time and costs.
