As a boy, Ron Yuers worked with a family friend who was a builder, so he was drawn to the construction industry when he launched his first business after coming to Vancouver in 1969. It wasn’t long, however, before he experienced the kind of hurdle that cripples many small businesses: the concrete waterproofing products he was applying didn’t work well in Vancouver’s rainy climate.
Mr. Yuers saw an opportunity and partnered with local scientists to develop a solution. In 1973,he formed Kryton International Inc. and, with wife Jeanette, began travelling throughout North America and around the world to introduce the new Krystol concrete waterproofing systems.
Today, Ron’s daughter Kari is Kryton’s president and CEO; son Kevin is vice president and COO. Under the family’s leadership, the company has grown to employ 75 of the industry’s most experienced engineers, chemists and business professionals, and now operates successfully in 40 countries.
