FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – September 19, 2007
Vancouver, B.C. – Kryton International announced today that its concrete waterproofing admixture, KIM-HS, has been certified by the Dubai Municipality. The Dubai Municipality Certification signifies that a product adheres to all applicable requirements and meets designated safety and quality standards. The certification came through Kryton’s United Arab Emirates partner, Giant Star Trading L.L.C. in Dubai.
“We’re pleased to have been awarded the Dubai Municipality Certification and achieved the right to use this distinction towards furthering our presence in the United Arab Emirates,” says Kari Yuers, CEO & President, Kryton International. “The United Arab Emirates represents a multi-billion dollar construction market and the Dubai Municipality Certification is highly regarded in the UAE. We believe that the certification will open the door for more high-profile projects throughout Dubai and the UAE.”
The Dubai Municipality Certification is awarded according to international specifications followed by the Dubai Central Laboratory (DCL). The Certification ensures compliance among products because the market is open to many products, some of which are substandard. In order to qualify to use the Dubai Municipality Certification, Kryton was required to undergo a rigorous assessment in the categories of potable water and the durability and strength of the product through an in-depth product testing regimen in compliance with the British Standard, BS 1881:1983, BS EN 12390 P8:2000, and the American Standard, ASTM C1202:2005.
“Krystol has been a proven technology for over 30 years worldwide,” says Yuers. “For new and existing UAE customers, the Dubai Municipality Certification provides peace of mind indicating that our Krystol products comply with all safety and quality standards. It also demonstrates our By Your Side commitment to servicing the Middle East region.
Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) utilizes Kryton’s proprietary Krystol technology to turn porous concrete into a permanent waterproof barrier, eliminating the need for physical waterproofing membrane systems. When mixed with concrete, Krystol creates a chemical reaction that causes millions of tiny crystals to grow, filling the spaces between concrete particles and permanently blocking the movement of water and waterborne contaminants. When cracks form in concrete, Krystol reacts with incoming water to grow additional crystals, self-sealing the cracks and eliminating the need for costly repairs.
