Phoenix, AZ – October 21, 2013 Kari Yuers, FACI, will be presenting a Fresh Look at Cementitious Materials and Admixtures at The American Concrete Institutes (ACI) Fall Convention in Phoenix, Arizona. She will cover new innovations and reveal new initiatives to better define the benefits regarding permeability reducing admixtures and admixtures for mitigating ASR, highlighted in the newly published E4-12 (January 2013) document on Chemical Admixtures for Concrete.
Although concrete has been around in different forms for thousands of years it is only in recent years that ground breaking innovations like Admixtures have truly opened up new avenues when it comes to increasing durability. Yuers will explore a range of materials and their performance which have a direct impact on improving constructability.
Yuers notes that, ‘With so much change in the concrete industry it is critical to bring together all the new ideas and initiatives being developed within the global concrete construction community’.
Yuers is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Kryton International Inc. based out of Vancouver, B.C., Canada, and joined Kryton in 1991 in the position of Vice President, Technical Services. Since taking the reins at Kryton, Kari has focused on developing award-winning products that create dry and durable concrete structures through integral crystalline waterproofing. Her research interests are concrete admixtures related to permeability, durability and sustainability of concrete structures as well
as materials for concrete repair and protection.
She is a currently the Chair of ACI’s International Advisory Committee (IAC); Member and Secretary of Committee 212, Chemical Admixtures; E702, Design of Concrete Structures; and E701, Materials for Concrete Construction. In addition, Yuers serves on the Convention Committee, Financial Advisory Committee and Committee 362, Parking Structures.
In 2005 she won the American Concrete Institute’s Young Member Award for Professional Achievement and in 2010 she was appointed Fellow of the Institute.
Kryton takes the risk out of concrete waterproofing. As the inventors of the crystalline waterproofing admixture, Kryton has been waterproofing concrete structures since 1973, with the most complete system that has undergone the most testing and received more approvals than any other.
