Mexico City, Mexico (May-18th, 2015) – Kryton International Inc. employs durable concrete waterproofing technology to ensure a sustainable and resilient structure that will last the test of time. This sustainable mindset will be a key theme at the Concrete Show Mexico, taking place from May 20-22 in Mexico City, Mexico.
Along with being one of the leading events for the concrete industry in Mexico, with 3 networking days, technological innovations, and key exhibitors, it will also host a cycle of lectures by industry specialists. At the Concrete Show Summit topics such as new technologies, applications and uses of cement and concrete will be discussed and lectured on. Further, as is the case globally and a theme at almost every construction focused tradeshow, sustainability will make up a large portion of the presentations.
Kryton International Inc.’s Latin American Territory Manager, Alfonso Urquidi will be presenting on crystalline waterproofing technology, highlighting the Metro Line 3 tunnel in Monterrey, Mexico. Serving a total of nine stations, Line 3 runs for 7.5 km from Barrio Antiguo to Hospital Metropolitano to the northeast of the city center. Except for a 550 m underground section between Barrio Antiguo and Line 2 at General Zaragoza and a 300 m transition, the new route runs on a viaduct for 6.65 km.
In order to sustainably waterproof the tunnel, a PRAH (Permeability Resistant Admixture for Hydrostatic conditions) crystalline waterproofing admixture was needed because of the water pressure the Metro Line would face. The project team used Kryton’s Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) waterproofing admixture to resist the hydrostatic pressure and protect the concrete for the life of the tunnel. Further, no external membrane was used which saved time and money for the project.
Urquidi’s presentation will take place on Friday May 22nd from 4-5 p.m. (CDT).
