Thanks to the efforts of Kryton’s Hong Kong distributor, Chevalier (Building Supplies & Engineering) Ltd., and the Kryton research and development team in Canada, Krystol Internal Membrane™ (KIM®) has received a new kind of validation for its sustainability. As a result, the admixture now has gold certification from the Construction Industry Council (CIC) Green Product Certification program.
It’s a significant achievement as the sustainability evaluation process is overseen by the two leading authorities of green construction in Hong Kong: the CIC and the Hong Kong Green Building Council. Under their guidance, the program takes a thorough look at 28 areas where construction products could impact the environment. At least three of those areas focus exclusively on different aspects of a product’s carbon footprint while the rest have been designed to look into human toxicity, resource consumption, ecosystem impact, and more.
With such a thorough review, the program makes it evident just how sustainable a particular product is, and it was no different for KIM. Earning the second-highest level of certification under this program, the waterproofing admixture has more than proven its sustainability.
