High amount of chlorides in the parking stalls and main slabs due to salts and chlorides brought in by cars during the winter caused severely damaged concrete.
One section of a suspended slab, 600 squared meters (6,500 square feet), was completely removed and Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) was added to the new concrete mix. The KIM concrete was poured in place at a 30 cm (0.98 feet) thickness and pumped from a distance of 100 meters (328 feet) from outside the parking garage.
KIM was also used in the parking ramp and in the parking stalls totaling an additional area of 300 square meters (3,200 square feet) at 8 cm (3 inch) thickness.
The resulting KIM slab was excellent with virtually no cracks. Any minor cracks that did occur were repaired through the unique seal-sealing ability of the Krystol technology.
Subsequent KIM concrete pours totaling 10,000 squared meters (100,000 square feet) will follow in this building due to the great success of KIM!
Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) is a hydrophilic crystalline admixture used to create permanently waterproof concrete.
